Corbina on the Fly

Steven Uyetanaka, life-long fly angler and pro, So Cal resident, and also a partner in Pacific Fly Fishers, shows off the elusive corbina! Steve took this corbina on a beach near San Diego.

Corbina will cruise the inner surf in just a few inches of water, hidden by the foamy surface and eating sand crabs. Their range is from Mexico to S. California. The All-Tackle World Record (as of 2010) was just 7 pounds and 15 ounces. They are considered to be very tough to catch, even for bait anglers.

Nice job, Steve! And nice hat!
