
Fall Steelhead Favorites
In the Pacific Northwest, fall may be the best time to be a steelhead fly fishing addict. The rivers are running low and clear but the weather is cooling and fresh steelhead are entering the rivers. As summer steelhead ascend toward their natal rivers, they may travel hundreds and hundreds of miles. The further they travel and more time they spend in freshwater, the more trout-like their behavior can become.

One of the joys of summer steelhead is fishing smaller flies, lighter lines, and (hopefully) casting to more active fish more willing to take a fly. Not getting rained on quite as much is certainly a nice bonus as well!
