Where to Go Fly Fishing in Washington in February 2026It has been a crazy January and into February so far. Sixty degrees in January? Probably not good for the ol' snow pack but it has created some unseasonably great fishing. We've had some crazy reports of good fishing for Skwala stones already and even on dries! It is super early for that but sounds great! Also, some lakes are already staring to fish well in the local area and those lakes that open on March 1st may be off to a hot start. Steelhead & Salmon It is such a shame we&...

Fly Fishing for Skagit River Pink Salmon THE RUNDDOWN From the town of Sedro-Woolley to Marblemount Pink salmon only arrive on odd numbered years like 2023, 2025, 2027 and so on. September through mid-October is prime pink salmon time. Earlier is usually more fun when most of the fish are bright, fight better, and it is easier to avoid spawning fish. Trip Report - Fall Steelhead at Skeena River Lodge 2025This Fall steelhead trip to Skeena River Lodge started off like many great trips do. Months and months of planning, prepping gear, arranging flights and tying flies. We've hosted many trips to Skeena River Lodge over the years, this was my second time going and I couldn't wait to get back. Finally after waiting for September to roll around, it was time to head to the airport and start our journey north. We all met up here in town and drove north to the Canadian border crossing and the...
Fly Fishing for Skagit River Silver SalmonThis nice coho took a fly called the Pay Dirt in the colors of black and blue. Swinging flies with two-handed rods is an effective way to catch silvers/coho, but many anglers prefer to add motion to the fly by stripping the line to make the fly jump and fall, or incorporating a fast strip retrieve at the end of the swing. Fly Fishing for Skagit River Silver Salmon THE RUNDDOWN From the town of Sedro-Woolley to Marblemount Mid-September through mid-November Watch regulations closely for whi...

We spent a week fishing the Kitimat River with our friends at Skeena River Lodge and, even though the fishing was a bit on the challenging side, it was a very fun, successful trip. It was great to fish and hang out with the other anglers, guides and other lodge staff on this trip and bright, tough Chinook salmon were landed by all. Thank you to all of you for a great week! T...
