Gear Reviews: Tight Lines Rod Racks

Tight Lines Rod Racks

Tight Lines Rod Racks offer easy transportation of your fly rods, whether it's single hand or two handed fly rods. If you fish on road systems and are in and out of your vehicle going from spot to spot, these rod racks will save you so much time. Stop wasting your time breaking down your rod, and spend more time fishing! Plus you'll look really cool driving down the road!

Which one should you get?

There's a few things to figure out before you order your Tight Lines Rod Rack for your vehicle. You'll have to figure what model you need for your vehicle. Tight Lines Enterprises makes three different configurations to choose from. Tight Lines Rod Racks attach to your vehicle in two different ways, either with a strong magnet or a very powerful suction cup. So first determine if the hood and roof of your vehicle is magnetic or not. On many newer trucks the roof will be magnetic but not the hood. If this is the case for you then you will want to go with the Magnet/Vacuum model. If the hood and roof of your vehicle are both magnetic then choose the Magnet/Magnet model. If neither surfaces of your vehicle are magnetic, don't worry there's one for you too. The Vacuum/Vacuum model will work on any vehicle.

How many rods will they hold?

Tight Lines Rod Racks will hold anywhere from 1 single hand fly rod to as many as 8 Spey rods with heavy Spey reels. This is very convenient when you're planning on doing a float and your running your own shuttles, and you've got a bunch of rods and gear to transport.

How fast can I drive with a Tight Lines Rod Rack on my vehicle?

Tight Lines recommends not exceeding 50 MPH, but I have tested mine fully loaded with Spey rods going much faster than that with no issue. But I wouldn't recommend jumping on I-5 and driving 70 MPH either... On the models with the vacuum suction cup adapters there is a red line on the plunger that will indicate if the rack is losing suction. If you see that red line just pull over and hit the plunger a few times and you should be good to go. With any of the models it is important to keep the surface you're attaching it to very clean and clear of dust or moisture so you get the most secure fitting on your vehicle.

Summary

Tight Lines Rod Racks are such a convenient piece of gear to have. You'll save yourself so much time by having your rods fully rigged and ready to fish. These are great for any angler and they also make really great gifts!
