Ruffed Grouse Select Skin
Beautiful Ruffed Grouse Select Skins offer numerous uses for the fly tier. Ruffed Grouse has loads of feathers similar to a Hungarian Partridge skin but with larger feathers for larger sized soft hackle flies. The saddle feathers are outstanding for small Matukas and the tail feathers can be used for wing cases and for wrapping bodies on small nymphs like a Pheasant Tail. Many of the feathers make really good-looking collars on wet flies and have a barred, mottled look for super buggy-looking flies. The Ruffed Grouse skin is a great source of materials for the imaginative fly tier.
