Scientific Anglers Backing - Bulk 30 Lb.

Scientific Anglers

$0.08

Scientific Anglers' 30 Lb. backing is very thin, highly durable and the colors are colorfast. We've been using it for years on everything from steelhead and salmon to tuna and billfish and haven't run into a single inconsistency. We offer our backing off of our bulk spools and will professionally load the exact amount you need onto a new reel (if you purchase the reel and backing together).  If you're not ordering a reel, we will load your backing onto a plastic spool with the exact amount you indicate.

Under "Quantity", please indicate the number of yards you would like. For example, if you need 150 yards, change the quantity to 150 for this item.  The backing is $0.08 per yard so, for example, 100 yards of backing is $8.00.

If you are ordering a reel, line and backing:  If you order a reel, line, and backing on the same order, we will pre-load the line so your new reel comes with the reel, backing, and line all ready to go.  Select the color of backing and which hand you reel with from the drop-down menus above.  For example, if you want white backing and reel with your left hand, you would choose "White" and "Left Hand" from the drop down menus above.  Make sure to also order the quantity (in yards) of backing your reel needs as mentioned above.

If you are ordering a reel and backing but no line: If your order includes a reel and you would like us to put the backing on it for you, your reel will arrive to you with the backing on the reel all ready for you to put your line on.  Select the color of backing and which hand you reel with from the drop-down menus above.  For example, if you want yellow backing and reel with your right hand, you would choose "Fl. Yellow" and "Right Hand" from the drop down menus above.  Make sure to order the quantity (in yards) of backing your reel needs as mentioned above.

If you are ordering backing but no reel:  If you are ordering backing without a reel or would like to put the backing on the reel yourself choose "No Reel" from the drop-down menu above.  For example, if you want orange backing, choose "Fl. Orange" and "No Reel" from the drop down menus above.  Make sure to also order the quantity (in yards) of backing your reel needs as mentioned above.  Your backing will arrive on a spool for your to load onto your reel yourself.

Do I need 20-pound or 30-pound backing? Use 20-pound backing for most 6-weight and lighter rods. Use 30-pound backing for most 8-weight and larger rods.  (Exception:  20 lb. backing is usually used for bonefish even on 7- to 9-weight rods).
