The Llama - Black/Purple
Pacific Fly Fishers
The Llama - Black/Purple, created by Joe Ewing of PFF, is a perfect low to moderate water level summer steelhead fly, but it has been known to find a winter run or two. This fly has been proven all over the northwest from the likes of the Kispiox to the north, the Skykomish towards the south, and the Clearwater to the east.
The Llama - Black/Purple being unweighted can be used with any rod and line combination. From single handed rods to 15' spey rods with a long belly and everything in-between. Floating lines to sink tips this fly can, and has done it all with great success. It is hard not to have this fly in your box when you realize its track record of success.
The Llama - Black/Purple has been very successful in low light conditions. The length of the fly is approx 2.25"
