We've paired the Sage Maverick with a Sage Enforcer reel. The Enforcer has a very strong smooth sealed drag and will stand up to the abuse that the fish of the flats often induce. The Scientific Anglers Amplitude Smooth Infinity fly line that we've chosen for this outfit is one of our favorite lines for anything in the tropics. It's got just enough finesse to not spook fish, yet it's got the power to punch through the wind. Whether this is going to be your primary setup or a backup, you can't go wrong.
Your reel will also come with backing and the line spooled up and ready to fish. We've included a 9' RIO Fluoroflex Bonefish/Saltwater leader, so all you need to do when your outfit arrives is tie a fly on and go fishing!

Sage Maverick Fly Rods
The Sage Maverick was designed for the flats and making quick accurate shots to cruising tarpon, schooling bonefish, or meandering redfish in the marshes. The Maverick has a powerful tip section that smoothly transfers the load throughout the rod blank that helps make those quick shots. This rod is fast and has what we would call a true saltwater taper. Scientific Anglers Amplitude Smooth Infinity Salt Fly Line
The Scientific Anglers Amplitude Smooth Infinity Salt is a technical line for the flats. It's got a long head that is a half line size heavy, and is incredibly accurate at distance. With SA's Tropi-Core technology that remains stiff in tropical environments, and their AST Plus coating, this line fires shots at high line speeds and holds up to the abuse that the tropical flats can unleash on your gear. When you find yourself connected to hot bonefish that's 150 yards into your backing, there is a high contrasting black sighter at the rear of the fly line, so you can see where your line is from a mile away. RIO Fluorflex Bonefish/Saltwater Leader
RIO's Bonefish/Saltwater Fluoroflex leaders are made of 100% fluorocarbon, and are the perfect solution for when fishing shallow, clear flats and for spooky bones, permit and reds. Each leader has high abrasion resistance and excellent tensile and knot strength and a long butt section that will turn over flies effortlessly. Fluorocarbon leaders are harder to see underwater for stealthy presentations. Fluorocarbon is also more dense than standard nylon leaders so they sink faster and tend to be more abrasion resistant. Scientific Anglers Backing
Your outfit will come with the perfect amount backing already loaded onto the reel and attached to your line. We only use the best knots to rig your setup. We use the Bimini Twist with a lock to form a loop then seal the knot with glue to then loop-to-loop connect your backing to the back of your fly line. More Info.

Sage Maverick Fly Rod - 9wt
The 9wt is a great rod to have setup for permit and triggerfish. A 9wt is also preferred by a lot of anglers that are in a destination that has larger bonefish. Places like Hawaii and the Seychelles. And when the wind picks up on the flats, and it will, a 9wt can also offer an advantage over an 8wt for cutting through the wind.
